Tenancy support

We provide two support programs across Melbourne’s eastern region, that help clients secure tenancies.

The Social Housing and Support Program (or SHASP) provides public housing tenants with tailored support to help maintain their tenancy in situations where this is breaking down, and the Private Rental Assistance Program supports clients to secure or maintain a private rental tenancy as an alternative to rooming house accommodation.

Private rental assistance

The Private Rental Assistance Program assists individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness or living in, or at risk of living in, rooming house accommodation to transition into a secure, affordable and sustainable private rental home.

This program is suitable for singles, couples and families who are private rental ready, requiring limited support to establish and maintain their tenancy in the eastern Melbourne area.

Social housing advocacy and support

The Social Housing Advocacy and Support Program (SHASP) provides advice and support to public and social housing tenants and residents to prevent tenancy breakdown.

The program works with individuals and households on the issues that may impact upon their tenancy, while also helping them increase participation in their community and achieve other life goals.

SHASP aims to prevent homelessness through fostering safe, sustainable public housing tenancies. This is a voluntary service, available to all public housing tenants and residents with identified risk to the success of their tenancy.
