Become a foster carer

Every child and young person deserves a safe and loving home, and the best possible start to life.

As a provider of foster care services across the eastern and southern regions of Melbourne, we place children and young people who can not live with their families with carers who can help change their lives for the better. To enquire into fostering with Wesley, fill out our foster care enquiry form.

You could become a foster carer

With the number of children and young people unable to live with their parents rising every year, we always need more carers.

You’ll play a vital role in giving these children a stable and nurturing home environment. Foster carers come from all walks of life – there’s no such thing as the ‘perfect’ carer! What you do need is patience, energy, time, commitment and a sense of humour, which all goes a long way towards helping a foster child or young person.

We need carers who can provide:

  • emergency/overnight care, which provides accommodation and care for a child or young person in an emergency situation
  • weekend respite, looking after children and young people living with a foster care family for occasional or regularly scheduled weekends
  • short-term care, which ranges from a few days to a few months, depending on the child or young person’s needs, and
  • long-term care, when the child or young person is not expected to return to their family.
