Lifeline is a 24-hour telephone counselling service available every day of the year to anyone, at anytime and from anywhere in Australia for just the cost of a local call. Lifeline Melbourne is a service provided by Wesley Mission Victoria. You can call Lifeline any time of the day or night on 13 11 14.
Who does the program support?
Anyone and everyone can call Lifeline. It is a counselling service that respects everyone's right to be heard, understood and cared for. Some of the issues Lifeline deal with every minute of every day:
> relationship difficulties > grief, loss and separation > drug and alcohol abuse > crisis in the home or workplace > depression, anxiety > thoughts of suicide and self harm
How does the program work?
Highly trained volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds, who are supervised by qualified staff, answer your calls from the 13 11 14 number 24 hours a day. Lifeline volunteer telephone counsellors are trained and supported to provide assistance to others.
Our counsellors will take the time to listen, offering support and understanding. They will work with you to consider options and help you make decisions about what to do next. Counsellors can also provide information about other help available to you in the community.
If you feel that you might need telephone counselling, you can call about anything that might be troubling you. If you feel you or someone you know may be at risk or just need someone to listen, call Lifeline, and talk to someone confidentially and anonymously.
