Our Ambassador!

This year, we are doing things slightly different from previous years. First of all, we have a new ambassador on board - Callum Hann, the runner up in the second series of the Channel 10 program, Master Chef. To find out more go to www.foodforfamilies.com.au

For Callum, coming second was by no means a loss for the 20 year old, he was invited by Judge and top chef George Columbaris to complete a three month apprenticeship at his group of restaurants, including world renowned “The Press Club”, which he started in October 2010. He is travelling around Australia attending personal appearances, pursuing television and publishing opportunities and has opened his own cooking school “Sprout” in Adelaide. Sprout is a joint initiative by accredited practicing dietician Themis Chryssidis and Callum. They are tailored around the individual’s life and health.

"For more and more Victorian families, it is getting harder to make ends meet. The Food For Families Appeal is so important for many disadvantaged families, who rely on the appeal just to survive. I am proud to be the Ambassador for Wesley Mission Victoria's Food For Families Appeal" - Callum Hann

Feed 20,000 Families

Historically, Food For Families has been about donating non-perishable food. While this is still our biggest aim, we are also encouraging people to make monetary donations, so we can support disadvantaged Victorians in a wider range of ways. If you can't get to a Woolworths Store to donate food, you might like to make a monetary donation.

By simply donating $20, you can feed a family of four. This donation will also go towards providing people with other ongoing support, including toiletries, transport, phone cards and much more.

To find out more, or to donate today, go to the Food For Families Website.

About Food for Families

20 years

The Wesley Food for Families appeal has been running for 20 years. The aim of the appeal is to collect food and toiletries for families in crisis in the lead up to Christmas.

In our experience, the need for support for families in crisis is greatest during the Christmas period, when stories and images of people celebrating with family and friends surround us, making life even more difficult for those in need.

Each year our services support over 55,000 people. Items we collect this year will assist us to continue supporting families and homeless people at Christmas and throughout the coming year.

100% of the items collected directly assist those in need.

The Appeal includes over 300 schools, businesses and community organisations setting up collection boxes. Individuals will be able to donate at participating Woolworths stores or directly to one of our services.

The Appeal runs in the six weeks leading up to Christmas, but Wesley takes donations of non-perishable food all year round. Contact us to find out how you can get involved.
