Wesley Mission Victoria is committed to a socially inclusive approach in all the services it delivers, and in its advocacy for social development.  This approach applies to all Wesley’s activities, and guides the work of staff, volunteers, consultants and contractors who undertake work for Wesley.

A socially inclusive approach emphasises the importance of each individual having choice about, and control over, how they live their life. 

Because it is based on the idea that each individual has the right to determine the life they want to lead, it means working with people to give voice to their views and to challenge the norms, systems and structures that limit their autonomy and participation within their families, communities and societies as a whole.  It recognises the right extends to all people, and thus individuals have a responsibility to others in shaping a future in which all have a place.
